EPISODE HIGHLIGHTS
[17:32] CAM NEWTON BELIEVES HE SHOULD STILL BE A TOP-32 QUARTERBACK IN THE LEAGUE
CN: “It’s crazy because I said to the world, I can be a backup. When they was trying to say like ‘you’re not good enough to start or to be a franchise player.’ That’s cool.”
RG3: “I don’t believe that by the way, I do think you’re good enough to be a starter.”
CN: “You and be both but at the same time let’s just put it like this. I’m just going to give you some clickbait, so to speak. I said there’s not 32 guys that’s better than me. I still feel that way. I now know there’s not 64 guys that’s better than me.”
[26:28] CAM NEWTON SAYS IF THE JETS CALL, THEY’RE NOT GOING TO PENNY PINCH HIM INTO PLAYING AGAIN
RG3: “But I still believe, Cam, that you can play. So, if the Jets called you right now, what’s your answer?”
CN: “Going back to control? You [are] not about to sit up there and penny pinch me, bro. So, I’m not about to sit up here and sign no $5.5M deal bro. Those days are over with, I’d be wasting my time. Bro I have seven beautiful children that I love taking to football practice, tennis practice, cheerleading practice and all that shit. So to get me out of taking them on a day-to-day basis and taking them to school – those are things you have to consider. And if the call doesn’t happen, still cool. I’m still straight.”
[27:43] CAM NEWTON ON NEVER WANTING TO GO TO THE PATRIOTS
“I never really wanted to play for nobody else but the Panthers… I went to New England, I learned so much from that organization from top to bottom with Robert Kraft and obviously Bill Bellichick and Josh McDaniels as well. But I wouldn’t change that for nothing. I needed that for my overall growth and development as a human and a businessman. So, seeing that is just something – I can honestly say I used the game of football. I’m healthy and that’s the only thing I can dwell on, just the gratitude itself.”
[57:07] CAM NEWTON AND RG3 AGREE THAT REGGIE BUSH SHOULD HAVE HIS HEISMAN TROPHY BACK
RG3: “Should Reggie Bush have his Heisman [Trophy] back? I think he should.”
CN: “Hell yeah. Matter of fact I’m gonna let the cat outta the bag. You being a fellow Heisman Trophy winner. I was going to say…and we have our own Heisman House and we bring on Reggie Bush and we bring on Johnny Manziel…I think it would be so funny if we recreate the Heisman House and it’s like the misfits.”
[58:38] CAM NEWTON ON NEVER THINKING ABOUT BEING A FOOTBALL COACH
“I’ve never seen a great coach be a great father and I’ve never seen a great father be a great coach. Granted, call it what it is, Prime has been able to be a great father because he’s incorporated [his] family. You see, his son does his media. Everybody’s coming with him. That’s not my situation. I have five kids under the age of six.”
