Blu and Shafiq Husayn share their new album, ‘Out Of The Blue’, plus the official music video for “Roll Up” featuring Jimetta Rose, Donel Smokes, and Tiron.

After years of collaboration, famed emcee Blu and Grammy-winning producer Shafiq Husayn of Sa-Ra Creative Partners unveil ‘Out Of The Blue’, their first official joint album.

Now available worldwide on colored vinyl, CD, and all major digital streaming outlets, the collection unites the talents of two major figures in the modern Los Angeles hip-hop scene.

Awash in Shafiq’s dense sonic architecture, ‘Out Of The Blue’ showcases the intricacy of Blu’s spiritual street talk while also delivering a series of bass-heavy L.A. anthems.

Entirely produced by Shafiq Husayn (save for one memorable contribution from Dibia$e), the album features MED, Exile, Chuuwee, Thurz, Speed Walton, and Freestyle Fellowship members Myka 9 and Self Jupiter.

‘Out Of The Blue’ is my G-Funk album,” Blu explains. “Big brother Shafiq gave us a master class in production. We just in here being funky and having fun.

Blu has previously delivered classic collaborative projects with producers like Exile, Madlib, Nottz, Oh No, and Damu The Fudgemunk, while Shafiq Husayn has crafted tracks for Erykah Badu, Anderson Paak, Jurassic 5, Bilal, Thundercat, Ice-T, and more.

Before joining forces on ‘Out Of The Blue’, the duo worked together on Blu’s experimental masterpiece York, along with the acclaimed 2018 mixtape ‘The Blueprint’.
