It’s a throwback party today with the release of Bell Biv DeVoe‘s brand new comeback album 'Three Stripes'.
The R&B legends have aptly released their first album in nearly 16 years right on the heels of the epically executed New Edition BET biopic, "The New Edition Story". The 10-track album has been preceded by the Erick Sermon-produced single “Run” and recently released follow-up “I’m Betta” produced by Kay Gee of Naughty by Nature. The LP also includes some exciting collaborations with SWV (“Finally”) & Boyz II Men (“One More Try”).
Talking about the album, Ricky Bell told Music Choice:
“Us as performers, as writers, as producers we’re a lot better now [compared to their debut album]. Song for song, if you match “Don’t Go” up with “Do Me” or whatever, on a performance side, we’re a whole lot better. We are mindful of where our fans are and where we are, it’s age appropriate. The grooves are mad sexy, the melodies are catchy, subject matters are just right up your alley of whatever is going on today and with relationships. Besides ‘Poison’ it’s our best work.”
A bold statement, but one that is also backed up by their inspiration and desire to create a work that they were equally proud of, compared to their massive debut with the 'Poison' album.
