9th Wonder keeps it soulful – as usual – on his latest production for Rapsody’s collaborative effort with fellow North Carolina native, J. Cole. On “Sojourner,” Cole opens up with introspective bars and confessional lyrics: “Scared that I’m too disconnected from the kids’ perspectives. The world ain’t got no patience for some sh*t that’s introspective.”
Rapsody chimes in on the second verse, with her own set of witty bars. On the clever tip, she even name drops in a couple of her impactful bars: “Scared to grow wings, Birdman with a bunch of Carter beef. That’s old news.”
The single comes as the first offering off Rap’s “Jamla is the Squad II” – the sequel to the 2014 release, “9th Wonder Presents: Jamla is the Squad.” The follow up project is set for a November 9th release and will come equipped with 22 new tracks featuring artists such as Busta Rhymes, Black Though, Big K.R.I.T. and more.
