1. “Soul Food Love“: Mother-daughter team Alice Randall and Caroline Randall Williams (pictured above) wrote an organic soul food cookbook entitled, “Soul Fool Love: Healthy Recipes Inspired by 100 Years of Cooking in a Black Family“. The book translates African-American family history through food and shows a powerful new way forward with delicious recipes and healthy habits.
2. Scrumpt: This company was founded by pediatrician and assistant clinical professor of pediatrics at UC Davis School of Medicine, Schery Mitchell-James and her daughter Bri James. The San Francisco-based duo sells low-cost nutritious meals and snacks along with healthy eating education for both children and parents.
3. “You Have No Idea“: This is the title of a book written by well-known actress Vanessa Williams and her mom, Heln. Released in 2013, the full title of the book is “You Have No Idea: A Famous Daughter, Her No-Nonsense Mother, and How They Survived Pageants, Hollywood, Love, Loss and Each Other“, and the book describes their lives, family, challenges and triumphs.
4. Takara: Takara Beathea is a self-taught fashion designer. Together with her daughter, Tamiya, they have opened several clothing, shoes, and accessory boutiques – TAKARA, Croix and Soko – in Chicago. Their creations are made from natural materials and are ethnically inspired in design.
5. Paige & Paxton: This mother/daughter business is owned by Kelley O. Williams and her mother Rachel Williams. Their company has created a K-2 curriculum that makes it easier to teach young students STEM skills.
