Not long after reporting on the murder of Chicago pre-teen, 11-year-old Takiya Holmes, we've received an update that the Chicago Police Department now has a suspect in custody. The suspect in question happens to be 19-year-old Antwan C. Jones (pictured above).
As we've previously reported, Takiya Holmes was shot in the head by a stray bullet this past Saturday (2.11.2017) only to succumb to her wound a few days after being rushed off to Comer Children's Hospital. 12-year-old Kanari Gentry-Bowers would also be shot in the neck by a stray bullet 30 minutes before Takiya was shot. Kanari is currently on life support, in critical condition, at Stroger Hospital.
A few hours after Takiya was pronounced dead, 2-year-old Lavontay White would also be shot & killed while in the back seat of a car with his pregnant aunt and her boyfriend, who were also shot. The aunt took a bullet the stomach but fortunately, her injuries were not life-threatening. Her boyfriend, on the other hand, was shot several times only to die at the scene.
According to Chicago Police Department spokesman Anthony Guglielmi, officials will be providing a briefing on the Takiya Holmes case later on today (2.15.2017). Our hearts go out to the slain children.
