The short story goes… During Super Bowl XLII, played on February 3, 2008, at University of Phoenix Stadium in Glendale, Arizona, the New York Giants played the New England Patriots, who were undefeated going into the big game. With two minutes left in the game, just when it looked like Giants Quarterback Eli Manning would go down, he spotted David Tyree, the veteran special teams player, down the field, threw the ball deep, setting up one of the most memorable plays in football history – aka “The Greatest Catch Ever.”

Spike Lee teamed up with ESPN to revisit the moment on film, in a short (just over 30-minute film) titled “The Greatest Catch Ever” – a Spike Lee “Lil’ Joint” as the filmmaker calls it.

It features the main players from that game, including contributions from the aforementioned Eli Manning, and David Tyree, as well as Chris Snee, Plaxico Burress, Giants head coach Tom Coughlin and others.

ESPN has released the film online, after its Tribeca Film Festival premiere event 10 days ago, and it’s embedded below for you to watch in full:
