Anthony Anderson & Lil Rel came by The Breakfast Club & they discussed the sigma behind becoming a successful comedian.

Charlamagne Tha God: “How come when black comedians are being funny & being silly & goofy, they call it coonin’? A white comedian could be doing the same thing & they just being goofy. Why we take ourselves so seriously.”

Anthony Anderson: “I don’t know. I’m glad you said it because it’s only us who feel that way. It’s only our own community. We need to look at ourselves sometimes & look at that reflection that we’re looking at. I don’t know where it stems, or where it comes from but it’s something that’s been passed down from generation to generation & now it’s almost innate within us -this self-hatred.”

Lil Rel: “Even when you start doing well, [the] first thing people start thinking [is that] you did something crazy. Only with the black comic. White comic, [people say] ‘that’s what is supposed to happen.’ If you [a black comic] get a deal, you apart of something [like the illiminati]”
