@ShaneHamlet_ » Stylez Ain't Free, Vol. 1 [Mixtape]

The battle for New York hip-hop to get back to the top continues with Brooklyn rapper & Smooth Family Entertainment CEO, Shane Hamlet. Hamlet recently dropped his debut mixtape ‘Stylez Ain’t Free, Vol. 1‘ which is a project of diverse tracks & subject matter. ‘SAF1‘ is a project that’s guaranteed to grab attention of every person known to man from the hood to the suburbs.

The versatility of ‘SAF1‘ is the highest point here for Shane Hamlet. One of favorite tracks on ‘SAF1‘ is the Wayans Bros-inspired jawn “Bang Bang Bang“. This track takes me back to a time you couldn’t wait to get in front of the TV & watch “The Wayans Bros.” as well as other Black sitcoms of that time. Besides that, the bars on this track shows us a little bit of what Hamlet can bring as far as lyricism is concern. Another hot jawn on ‘SAF1‘ is “Intellectual Asshole” which is an interesting song in title itself. Hamlet also takes us back to the old-school with the Busta Rhymes-inspired track “Busta“, a freestyle track that samples Busta Rhymes‘ 1997 hit single “Dangerous“. While I’ve given a taste of what can be found on this mixtape, I encourage the reader/listener to download ‘SAF1‘ to get the full-course meal.

SAF1‘ might not be for everybody as it will always be audiences that will love it while there’s audiences that will hate it. Besides tracks about weed, women, & other light-hearted jawns, you won’t find too much groundbreaking material (if at all) on here. But that’s not to say this ain’t a good project because I enjoyed it myself for the most part.

With ‘SAF1‘, there’s something in it for everybody because of its diverse content. And versatility rarely leaves any room for disappointment. ‘Stylez Ain’t Free, Vol. 1‘ is available now & you can download it here. -Review written by DV
