Teen Gets Job After Stopping Robber During Interview

WDSU | A teen on a job interview at a Popeyes in New Orleans East gave a job-clinching performance when he stopped a robbery in progress. The thief grabbed cash from a register and was trying to get away when 18-year-old Devin Washington jumped in to help as a female manager tried to block the would be robber from leaving.

Washington was sitting down with two managers for a job interview on Saturday when a cashier started screaming.

“Saying ‘we’re being robbed,’ I guess he reached his hand in the drawer and he was trying to run to the door and one of the managers (tried to stop him) and he ran into her,” Washington said.

He said the restaurant broke out into chaos.

“The only thing I remember is me getting him and putting his hand behind his back. That’s all. Washington said, “I wasn’t scared or nervous or anything like that. I just got up and did it.”
