“Until you begin to tackle—or address—the difficult, uncomfortable circumstances, you don’t have a real shot at change,” so says T.I., director of Us Or Else—the cinematic companion to Tip’s tenth studio album, which premieres tonight at 11p.m. on BET.

Like its musical companion, which was subtitled “A Letter To The System,” the short film probes a range of troubling realities now confronting the black community, even as it holds the system accountable.

As part of the roll-out BET will air a one-on-one conversation between T.I. Then at 9pm on April 26th CNN analyst Angela Rye will moderate a panel discussion on BET Jams and BET Soul, with a diverse group of panelists to include Tip and community thought-leaders like Talib Kweli, Officer Nakia Jones (whose Facebook post went viral after the police killing of Alton Sterling in Baton Rouge); activists Brittany Packnett and Tamika Mallory, Pastor Eric Mason and Mt. Vernon, New York Mayor Richard Thomas.

“It seems as though the Black man’s answer to the problems is to move out,” T.I. observes. “Then what happens to the community? What happens to the people who are stuck there?” You can give the full interview a watch below…
