Rashaan Salaam (Formerly Of The Chicago Bears) Dead @ Age 42

Former Chicago Bears running back Rashaan Salaam has passed away at the age of 42.

The winner of the 1994 Heisman Trophy and the Bears’ first-round pick in 1995 was found dead in a park in Boulder, Colo., on Monday night, according to a story on the Chicago Tribune. Per that account, Boulder police said there were no signs of foul play.

Salaam spent three seasons with the Bears after entering the league as the 21st-overall pick in 1995. His rookie campaign produced 1,074 rushing yards and 10 touchdowns. But that was as good as it would get for the talented running back. He managed only 608 rushing yards and three touchdowns for the rest of his career, spending two more seasons with the Bears and splitting time between the Browns and Packers in 1999.

As a junior at the University of Colorado, Salaam became just the fourth college running back to surpass 2,000 rushing yards in a season, rushing for 2,055 yards with 24 touchdowns for the Buffaloes on the way to the Heisman trophy.
