Neo-Soul Trio Moonchild (@ThisIsMoonchild) Offer Love As A ‘Cure’

Moonchild - Cure [Track Artwork]

Courtesy of British indie record label Tru Thoughts Records, “Cure” (which  you can stream & cop via Bandcamp | Spotify) is the new lead single from ‘Voyager’ (out 5.26.2017), the third album from the LA-based trio Moonchild – who pioneer a unique style of soul & new-school jazz. Following upfront radio support from Gilles Peterson (BBC 6Music), Jamz Supernova (BBC 1Xtra), & Anthony Valadez (KCRW), the single’s cinematic music video was picked up for premiere by The Fader, with more love shown from SoulBounce, Saint Heron, & DJ Mag.

The moment “Cure” unfurls, so do the sweltering, bluesy vocals of Amber Navran, whose soothing words provide comfort as they ask for trust. Written about falling for somebody who’s still getting over their ex, Navran’s vocals croon over a bed of soft synth & keyboard flourishes that were inspired by Stevie Wonder’s ‘70s era. The beat is swathed in a cool LA sound, whilst saccharine guitar strums, and a newly found love for sampling bird songs are captured in glittering refrains.
