Necole Kane (@IAmNecole) Speaks On The Price Of Leaving A Successful Brand

In a candid vlog, the former entertainment blogger gets real about going from boss to broke.

In a new raw-n-uncut video catching a lot of buzz online, entrepreneur Necole Kane—formerly of NecoleBitchie.com—discusses her career highs & lows. She recalls her journey from being jobless to building a successful career as a celebrity gossip blogger and then giving it all up to launch new site xoNecole.

She says:

“Over the past year, I’ve seen many people comment to me that my life is #goals. That my rebrand was flawless and I’ve been looked at as though I have the golden touch. That is far from the truth. It was a complete struggle to get to the happy place I’m currently in.”

Moving in with her aunt at age 25 after struggling to find a job, Kane talks about the early beginnings of NecoleBitchie.com. After her aunt kicked her out—what she calls “the best thing that could’ve ever happened in her life,” she jetted down to Atlanta where her blog really took off.

On 7.2.2015, she ended the site and headed to Mexico for a week to clear her head—before deciding to create a new site—xoNecole—centered on telling positive stories about women of color. But just as quickly as the new brand took off, money ran out—Necole tearfully recalled in the video.

After feeling like she was on a downward spiral as she compared herself to sites like Glamour.com & Cosmopolitan.com—she says an epiphany came in the form of a quote and she’s now looking forward to the future and “cleaning up her mess,” while taking viewers along for the ride in her new YouTube channel.

She says:

“I started to think about how I ended up and here and realized I made so many mistakes. And the number one mistake I made was trying to live up to the expectations of other people and trying to compete with my old success.”
