Attorney Gerald Thurswell, representing the family of Renisha McBride, says her alcohol level isn’t “relevant” to the shooting that killed the 19-year-old Michigan woman who knocked on the door of a homeowner last week following a nearby car accident.

This after a toxicology report released Thursday by the Wayne County Medical Examiner’s office found the woman’s blood alcohol content level was 0.22, more than twice the legal limit for driving.

McBride was shot in the face and killed by a 54-year old Dearborn, Michigan homeowner. Her family says she most likely knocked on his door seeking help.

Prosecutors are still trying to decide if they will charge the homeowner, and have scheduled a news conference for Friday.

In other Renisha McBride news, prosecutors on Friday announced charges against that suburban Detroit homeowner.

Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said that Theodore P. Wafer, 54, of Dearborn Heights faces charges of second-degree murder and manslaughter in the death of the teenager on Nov. 2.

Worthy said they did not feel there was enough evidence to show Wafer acted in self-defense.
