Development is underway on a Disney Channel Original Movie titled “Throw Like Mo” – a biopic that will tell the inspiring story of Mo’ne Davis, the 13-year-old sports prodigy who made history in August 2014 as the first female to pitch a shutout in the Little League World Series.

Davis, a member of Philadelphia’s Taney Dragons and the first Little League player to make the cover of Sports Illustrated, will consult on the movie, along with espnW, which has extensively covered her achievements.

“Throw Like Mo” will be executive-produced by Emmy Award-nominated producer Debra Martin Chase (“The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants”, “The Cheetah Girls”, & “Lemonade Mouth”). Sheldon Candis (writer & director of “LUV” & “A Slave in the White House”) & Justin Wilson (“LUV” & “A Slave in the White House”) will pen the script.

Naketha Mattocks, Vice President, Original Movies, Disney Channel, said:

“Mo’ne is not only a top-notch athlete in three different sports – baseball, basketball and soccer – but she is an exemplary student and someone who will remind our audiences that they can do anything with hard work, dedication and belief in themselves.”

Mattocks added:

“We know her story will inspire audiences regardless of their age, culture or gender, and I am thrilled to have Debra, Sheldon, & Justin leading the charge to bring this movie to life.”

Mo’ne Davis said:

“There are so many great things happening to me right now & it’s a very exciting time in my life. A year ago, I never would have thought that Disney Channel would make a movie about me. I can’t wait to get started, and I hope it will encourage other viewers to believe that dreams really do come true.”
