A shooting at an Oregon community college has left an estimated 13 people dead & at least 20 more injured.
According to police, a gunman opened fire around 10:30 a.m. PST at Umpqua Community College in southwest Oregon, which serves 19,000 full- and part-time students. At least 10 people were fatally wounded, and three injured individuals were being life-flighted to a nearby hospital. As of right now, it is unclear whether the shooter is among the dead or in police custody.
“I heard ‘active shooter,’ and I didn’t need to be told twice,” Umpqua student Larry Howell said to NBC News. “We don’t know which one of our colleagues are down.”
CNN reports that the shooting suspect, an unnamed 20-year-old male, is among the dead.
Details of the shooting are still emerging.
